I am excited to introduce a brand new feature where we’ll be interviewing an intelligent, inspirational and all-around impressive lady in order to share some of her talent and creative insight with all of you. Right now, we are hoping to be able to share someone amazing with you on a weekly basis. We also, however, really want to know who inspires you. If you know an incredible woman that you think we’d love and that others would love to hear about, please drop us a line at email@example.com and let us know a bit about her. We are always so thrilled to hear your thoughts and to be introduced to even more impressive women!
Early on in my history with BonLook, Melanie (one of our co-founders) introduced me to the artwork of Oana Befort. I was immediately impressed by her unique artistic style and her very blatant talent and creativity. I was so impressed by her work that when we decided to start the Women We Love feature, hers was the first name that popped into my mind. I figured that there would be no harm in asking if this ultra-talented artist would be willing to be featured on our humble blog. To my blissful surprise, Oana not only agreed to be interviewed but also sent me loads of beautiful artwork to share with you all as well.
Q + A
Tara: Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Oana: I am graphic designer and illustrator from Romania living with my American husband and our Romerican little boy in the big city of Bucharest. I love keeping myself busy with creative projects, taking pictures, baking, listening to records, picnics in the park and traveling with my boys.
Tara: What are 5 of your all-time favorite things?
Oana: My 5 most favorite things, hmm… My wedding ring, my sketchbook, my watercolors pan, my lip balm and my Bible.
Tara: Where do you get your inspiration from?
Oana: I mainly get inspiration from nature and more specifically from plants, flowers, insects and animals.
Tara: This might be a question you get a lot, but would you share a few of your favorite artists?
Oana: Some of my favorites artists in no specific order are: Charley Harper, Sanna Paananen, Gustav Klimt, Michel Delacroix, Alex Steinweiss, Blanca Gomez and Lara Lamm.
Tara: What are some of your aspirations (i.e. where do you hope to see yourself in the future, what are some of your personal and/or professional goals)?
Oana: I would love to be able to continue what I am doing in the future as a freelance artist. One of my future goals would be to explore other ways of applying my own illustrations, like printing on fabric for a start. I have a little something in the works right now. :) I would also like to be able to have my own little studio one day since at the moment my little work corner is in our living room.
Tara: Do you have any advice for women that may wish to pursue a similar career (i.e. freelance artist)?
Oana: Stay true to who you are and work very hard creating your own, unique style.
Tara: What are your thoughts on BonLook? Do you have a favorite style?
Oana: I love Bonlook for having such a great variety of amazing styles that crafted so beautifully. My favorite style is “Drink The Kool-Aid” and I love it! I also have ‘my eyes on’ the “Chocolate Tortoise” style that’s on my wish list.
If you’re anything like us and have now also fallen in love, you can see lots more of Oana’s life and her gorgeous artwork on her personal website. Also, Oana has an Etsy Shop where you can purchase a copy of many of her pieces or even commission your own!
Oana was also sweet enough to share one of the pieces she’s currently working on. This work is still in progress, but it’s already absolutely stunning! It may be a personal favourite. What do you think?
Hope you enjoyed reading this feature as much as I enjoyed putting it together! Once again, don’t forget to send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org if you know an inspirational woman who deserves to be featured next!
