Today I have a really fun feature in which I talk with the absolutely adorable and ultra-creative BFF bloggers Kaylah (from The Dainty Squid) and Elycia (from Love Elycia) about friendship and blogging (naturally!). These lovely ladies were kind enough to take the time to answer a few of my questions.
These girls are also currently holding awesome BonLook giveaways on their blogs (until Thursday, July 18th-so hurry, hurry!). You’ll find Elycia’s post that details what is up for grabs and how to enter over here, and then head over to Kaylah’s blog to enter her BonLook giveaway right here! Make sure to visit both to double up on your chances of winning!
Now, without further ado, here are their thoughts on friendship, blogging, and other awesome things!
Tara: Tell me a little about who you each are.
Kaylah: I’m Kaylah and I blog over at The Dainty Squid. I live in a small town in Northeast Ohio where I collect succulents, make friends with all the neighborhood stray cats and spend my days torturing my neighbors by listening to my music really loud.
Elycia: I’m Elycia, a stay at home mom and full-time blogger from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I love taking photos, dressing up in silly outfits, dancing to oldies and spending my days snuggling kitties and a baby.
Tara: How did you get into blogging?
Kaylah: I started blogging around four years ago as a way to promote my etsy shop. After about a year I started to get serious about it and eventually closed up my shop to work full time on the blog. Funny how things work out like that.
Elycia: For a long time I didn’t really know that blogs were a thing. One day I stumbled upon the world of blogging and fell in love. There were so many people out there who liked the same things that I did! Once I realized that blogging was a thing I was really excited to start my own so that I would have my own place to share. Right now I see blogging as the perfect excuse for me to do all of the things I love to do anyways, blogging just gives me that extra push to edit my photos and organize my memories.
Tara: What are 5 of your favourite things?
Kaylah: cats, cameras, root beer, my car and all things tooth shaped!
Elycia: My family, cats (really they are considered family too!), taking photos, warm but breezy days & the smell of laundry. Ok, weird list.
Tara: What’s the best thing about your friendship?
Kaylah: The best thing about our friendship is how similar we are to each yet how different. We have tons in common but we both think different ways so together we’re able to come up with awesome ideas. Also, I love that Elycia isn’t shy like I am so she’s able to bring me out of my shell to experience things I might not otherwise.
Elycia: One of the best things about our friendship is that I feel like no topic is off limits and I know that I can say anything to Kaylah and she won’t think I’m crazy. It is an awesome feeling to know that someone has your back no matter what and you have theirs. Also, Kaylah is pretty much the most fun person that I know and we always have an amazing time together shaking our butts to ridiculous music. Kaylah is an awesome planner and always thinks of fun things to do. Also, I really admire how sure Kaylah is of what she likes. I can’t think of the right way to describe this but when I look at something I can be kind of wishy-washy on whether or not I’m into it, Kaylah seems to know immediately if something is for her or not. That may sound weird but like I said, I really admire that about her.
Tara: Tell me about one of your favourite memories together.
Kaylah: One of my favorite memories was definitely making our “Living Better with Leslie and Janet” video. We went to the thrift store to find supplies and then plotted out all these silly little ridiculous scenes. It was a blast. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much in one day and the video still makes me crack up to this day.
Elycia: This is tough! I think my favourite memory is the week that I spent with Kaylah last summer. We had such a good time hanging out at the beach, thrift shopping, making hilarious videos and just enjoying each others company. Kaylah and I both like our alone time but we were pleasantly surprised when we didn’t get sick of each other. That is a great memory.
